REACH Helps Celebrate The Holidays with the Wilson-Gray YMCA

Last night we celebrated the holidays early with the Wilson-Gray YMCA in Hartford! The night started off with learning about the history of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and more with performances from the YMCA kids. Arts and crafts followed t...he cermony, where the children could decorate gingerbread men and paint ornaments. Holiday dinner was also served and Santa and Mrs. Claus even made an appearance! Seeing the smiles on these kids faces really explains the true meaning of the holidays.

REACH Teams Up With CL&P To Educate CT Children's Camps

REACH and CL&P team up to celebrate Arbor Day at CT Children's Camps. On April 26, REACH and CL&P Arborist Laura Barnard and Supervisor of Account Executives, Rich Walsh will attend Nature’s Classroom, a program of Channel 3 Kids Camp in Andover, for an Arbor Day Celebration. Laura and Rich will discuss electical safety tips, planting in proper places to avoid conflict with power lines, and then f...inish with the history of Arbor Day with an opportunity to plant seedlings at the end. The kids will also be taught the various uses of wood.

This same event will be done at Southington Community YMCA's Camp Sloper Open House in Southington on Saturday, April 28th.

We are very excited to have the opportunity to help educate the youth on such an important topic!

 

 

2012 WRAP Luncheon

Join us on April 20th for the 2012 WRAP (Women Raising Awareness Philanthropically) Luncheon at the Hartford Marriott Downtown. This year, the luncheon will include a silent auction, shopping from local boutiques and artisans, and of course, lunch.  Dr. William Petit Jr., founder of the Petit Family Foundation, will be the keynote speaker and Magi Bish, co-founder of The Molly Bish Foundation, will be honored for  her dedication to providing safety education, awareness, and prevention of missing and exploited children.

71st Annual OM Show Benefiting Bristol Boys&Girls Club

REACH is pleased to announce we are a sponsor for the 71st annual OM show benefiting the Bristol Boys&Girls Club. World's Fastest Golfer vs. World's Fastest Board Breaker

TOMORROW NIGHT The World’s Fastest Board Breaker, Leif Becker, and The World’s Fastest Golfer, David “Ogie” Ogron will compete at 6:30 p.m., at The Wilson Gray YMCA, located at 444 Albany Ave, Hartford. These two men will face off in a friendly competition to raise awareness of the needs of children around the world, but more importantly, right here at home. Spectators will have the opportunity to... identify a barrier facing children by writing it on either a board or a golf ball, and watch as these World Champions break through those barriers.

Leif Becker holds two world records, 140 boards broken in 10 seconds and 487 boards broken in one minute. David “Ogie” Ogron holds two world records, including the most golf balls hit in 2 minutes. These World Record Holders will be set up head to head and will have 60 seconds to determine who is the fastest while supporting REACH’s efforts to raise awareness for children in need.

On February 22, 2012 ESPN's Howie Schwab was awarded The REACH Foundation's second "Out of The Blue" Award! Howie received this award due to his selfless dedication to making children's lives better. Stop Handgun Violence- Short Film Auditions To Be Held Next Week

ATTENTION! On Monday, February 20 in Hartford at the Hartford Police Department PAL Headquarters; Tuesday, February 21 in Bridgeport at the Boys& Girls Club of Bridgeport; and Wednesday, February 22 in New Haven at Hill Regional Career High School will be the opportunity to audition for a small film. The target market we're looking  to audition is AT-RISK kids between the ages of 13-21 in these or surrounding areas of Connecticut. This is a first come, first serve registration so if you have the names of kids who are interested, please contact Lori Vernali to preregister at lori.vernali@usdoj.gov.

4 Peace, the Hartford Police Department, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of CT, and Stop Handgun Violence is creating a short film that concentrates on the roles women and girls play in violent crimes.

The kids who decide to audition will have to commit to a full day (8:30am to 4:30pm)! LUNCH will be served. Auditions will be judged by M. Antonio Ennis ("Twice Thou") and Ed Anderson ("Edo. G") of 4 Peace and Charles Grady, a stage, television, and film actor.

Exciting February News

On February 4^th and 5^th, The REACH Foundation will be at Big Y Kids Fair at The Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT. This fun-packed weekend will be an affordable and great outing for your family. Ticket prices are as follows: Adults: $8.00 and Kids 12 and under: $4(with a free ride included). Also, there is a saving opportunity!  If you use your Big Y Express Saving Card, you can buy 1 adult admission and get the next 50% off.

At the Kids Fair, there is enough entertainment to keep the adults entertained as much as the kids!  There will be local and national vendors offering valuable information, live entertainment, celebrity appearances, and much more! Another exciting event in February is Concert For Kids! Everyone here at The REACH Foundation is ecstatic to announce that we are one of the sponsors for this concert. On February 13^th at the Cadillac Ranch in Southington, CT, Concert For Kids will take place at 7pm benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The performers include some of country’s finest … Lee Brice, Uncle Kracker, JaneDear Girls, Neal McCoy, Casey James, and CT’s own Courtney Drummey. This show will be one you do not want to miss! Holiday Light Fantasia Overwhelming Success

After weeks of this dazzling light show, Holiday Light Fantasia has come to an end. With the support of the Connecticut community, this event was an overwhelming success! Over the past weeks, approximately 23,000 cars ventured to Goodwin Park in Hartford and drove through the 2 mile show, where over 35 lighted displays were admired by all.  Being the title sponsor of this event, we’d like to say thank you to all who attended! It is with your help that Channel 3 Kids Camp is now able to welcome thousands of children to their camp this year!
